Where did Cheezhead.com go?

Who moved my Cheez? My opinion on the Cheezhead.com redirect.

Reason #2 for starting this website = it bugs they hell out of me that Cheezhead is gone. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Joel Cheesman when he ran Cheezhead.com, for a variety of reasons, but I had a ton of respect for the news resource he built there.

The main reason I felt Cheezhead.com was important was that it provided a daily resource for anyone interested in online employment or Internet recruiting to stay up to date on the latest changes in the industry. As someone focused on Internet recruitment marketing via SEO, it was a site that held my interest.

Most importantly, to all of us, it served as news source “of record” for the industry – a tremendous history and timeline of the happenings in job search and employment marketing during the years those years. And now, it disgusts me that this resource is gone – it’s not that the owner has moved on, Joel I can live without, but it’s the fact that the entire site has been removed from the Internet as if it never existed that bugs me the most.

This historic resource has been taken offline, in my assumption, for the simple reason that redirecting a website has some SEO value to the new owner. The Jobing.com website will benefit somewhat via improved search engine rankings because Cheezhead.com redirects to it.

To Joel and Jobing: Please restore the historical record that Cheezhead is. Revive the resource as the historical document of the changes to the Internet recruiting industry during its time.

If you understand half as much about SEO as you portray yourself to know, you will certainly understand that there is not nor has there been any organic search engine benefit to the redirect. In fact, there could have been but by doing a mass redirect you totally screwed that up already...

So you might as well restore the historical record of Cheezhead.

Or, give me a call and I'll tell you how to do proper 301 redirects for SEO purposes.

The opinions expressed here are my own and they are purely opinion.
